Rare wine - Vintage 1960

The 1960 vintage was a let down in most french regions except for Bourgogne, which remains more or less decent.

The weather conditions did not promote a good crop in Bordeaux. Indeed, the summer of 1960 was cold and wet. Therefore, despite late october harvests, the grapes were not mature enough. However, some red wines such as Château Latour and Montrose manage to stand out. The quality of these wines is decent with beautiful colors.

In Bourgogne, The hard april frosts and the july hailstorms almost produced a bad quality vintage. Consequently, the white wines are quite weak and the reds lack character and expression as well as their usual ageing qualities.

Loire produced diluted and unattractive wines. In Rhône, the 1960 vintage is average.

No french region performed extremely well. The 1960 vintage is not one to remember.

If you have an important event to celebrate with a 1960 wine, opt for a solid value : Château Latour, Montrose and Gruaud Larose.
