2007, a vintage with beautiful opportunities

2007 is, as a whole, a vintage with low ageing potential due to the bad weather conditions in France from June to mid-August.

Red wines generally suffered and lack real strenght. Thankfully, the sunshine returned in late August and helped the grapes reached full maturation. 2007’s red wines are thus delightful to drink. The best winemakers managed to produce beautiful wines. For example, Saint-Emilion did really well thanks to its rich terroir and quality viticulture. Vineyards in the South of France took advantage of a milder weather. Châteauneuf-du-pape is also particularly accomplished : a generous wine with a beautiful acidity.

On the white side, dry and syrupy wines benefited from alternating rain and good weather. Bourgogne, Savoie and Jura produced honorable wines. Bordeaux offers magnificient wines. 2007’s Sauternes wines reveal one of their best vintages.

Therefore, despite bad weather conditions and the weakness of certain crus, 2007 offers nice buying opportunities.
