Everywhere in France, the 1982 wines have excellent reputation.
In the Bordeaux region, this year’s vintage was exceptional. Bordeaux winemakers were delighted with the high quality of their harvest. Thanks to a near-perfect weather, the flowering produced high-quality grapes. Only Sauternes’ surroundings suffered from heavy rains in september, which led to significant losses.
The Champagne region also produced a very nice 1982 vintage, both quantatively and qualitatively. A production so exceptional that it is difficult to find nowadays, and usually only for very high prices.
In Bourgogne, harvest was good and the wines are high-quality.
In the Rhône valley, wines offer a higher quality as well as a pronounced taste.
Among the most successful vineyards of 1982 are Châteaux Margaux, Haut Brion and Lafite Rothschild. Saint Julien and Pauillac also produced excellent bottles, perfect to celebrate an important event like a wedding anniversary for example.
Considered as legendary, the 1982 vintage is comparable to exceptional vintages such as 1961, 1945 and 1929.
