Unlike its predecessor, the 1924 vintage is surprising and very high quality. Almost as successful as 1920.
In Bordeaux, 1924 was very productive. The Bordeaux red wines are fine and elegant with a nice ageing potential, all thanks to favorable weather conditions.
The Sauternes wines are exceptional and the syrupy wines are almost as prestigious as some legendary vintages.
Bourgogne produced a good harvest and the mild weather promoted a healthy maturation of the grapes. The region enjoyed a mild, chilly spring followed by a very warm summer.
The vines took on the rain quite well before the harvest and the 1924 Bourgogne red wines are strong though not very tannic.
Champagne and Vallée du Rhône also enjoyed the mild weather and produced wines and champagnes with character and a decent ageing potential.
If you opt for a beautiful 1924 bottle, you will not be disappointed. To impress your guests or celebrate an important event, here is a list of the best bottles from this vintage : Margaux, Lafite Rothschild, Latour and Mouton Rothschild.
