Rare wine - Vintage 1971

Following its predecessor’s success, the 1971 vintage is as high-quality though less abundant. The wines produced are harmonious and well-made.

Thanks to a beautiful, warm summer, every Bordeaux appellations produced fine, charming wines. The white Bordeaux wines are also very appreciable.

The Bourgogne region was quite successful despite a difficult blooming period and a few hailstorms. The Bourgogne wines are very interesting.

If the Champagne region reached a production record the previous year, 1971 was not quite so successful. Some bottles are however excellent.

In the Rhône valley, the wines are more or less structured with a good ageing potential. Alsace also produced fine, concentrated wines. The Loire wines, however, are quite weak.

Considering the good weather conditions, most of the french regions produced excellent 1971 wines.

If you wish to purchase a beautiful 1971 bottle, here is a list of the most successful wines from this vintage : Lafite Rothschild Magnum, Château Leoville Las Cases, Château Latour, Château Margaux, Château Yquem, Richebourg and Clos Vougeot.
