Rare wine - Vintage 1954

1954 produced a mediocre vintage in Bordeaux but an excellent one in Bourgogne.

Bordeaux produced red wines which are quite harsh, diluted and acid, lacking in intensity. This was due to unfavorable weather conditions : the august rain, similar to the following months, managed to drown most of the harvest.

Not catastrophic, the 1954 Bordeaux vintage remains quite decent.

In Bourgogne, the vineyards were very successful , both in quality and quantity. Excellent weather conditions all year round and a very sunny harvest period produced amazing wines.

Same goes for Champagne and Vallée du Rhône : a very attractive vintage with an excellent ageing potential.

In Sauternes, the wines produced are light, interesting and quite successful.

If you wish to purchase a 1954 wine, opt for a Cheval Blanc, Haut Brion, Vieux Château Certan or Yquem which are all perfect for your biggets events.
