A temperamental and unstable weather scarred 2013. A harsh, wet and endless winter ultimately made way for a less than ideal spring. June and July were fatal for some of our winemakers, who watched 30 to 80% of their crop being destroyed by hailstorms. More difficulties appeared when harvesting began: the complexity of grape selection. Hard to evaluate the ideal maturation of the grapes.
This situation drove certain critics to expect (too quickly) a low quality vintage. It is now obvious, for our greatest delight, that their expectations were false. This vintage's production is much more nuanced and brought some very nice surprises.
2013 and its weather tribulations showcase the talent of our winemakers, who managed to produce an easy-to-drink wine from this difficult vintage. The skills and expertise of winemakers enable us to never again experience a mediocre wine.
