In spite of the fact that there is no existing Cru classification system, the Pomerol appellation is the jewel of Bordeaux with the famous Château Pétrus, one of the most expensive and rare Crus in the world. Its vineyard, located close to Libourne, 50km east of Bordeaux, has layered vines spread over 785 ha of terraces over Isle. It produces 40 800 hl of red wines.

The Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation is located in the same territory but is separated by the Barbanne river. It spreads over two towns, Lalande-de-Pomerol and Néac, and produces wines from the same grape varieties, similar to and often competing with the prestigious Pomerol appellation.

Main grape varieties : Merlot (from 80% to 100%), cabernet-sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec.

Soils : Clay-gravel

Style of wines :

Pomerol : deep and dense color for these powerful, round, supple and world-famous Bordeaux wines. Nose with deep and complex aromas of red and black fruits, spices, notes of violette, tobacco, liquorice, truffle and game, more complex with age. In the mouth, suave, robust, infused with fruity aromas, powerful, dense and velvety tannins. Long and persistent finish for these high-quality wines.

Lalande-de-Pomerol : deep red color for these powerful wines with elegant and melting tannins.
