Despite strict weather conditions, every regions produced wines with admirable quality : Bordeaux suffered from a suffocating heatwave but managed to produce a sumptuous wine in smaller quantities. In Graves, grape maturation was delayed by drought. In Champagne, frost damages in april destroyed almost half of the vineyard.
In Bourgogne, late harvests were rewarded by corpulent and ample red wines full of character, gifted by a significant ageing potential.
This vintage’s uniqueness lies in its ability to produce uniform french wines. It stands out with its extraordinary maturity, supple tanin and dark color.
Furthermore, there are so many successes from this year that it is impossible to name every one of them. Here are just a few : Cheval Blanc, Angélus, Petrus, La Conseillante, Hermitage, Margaux…
