In Bordeaux, the harvest was one of the most abundant. All appellations benefited from quality, abundant harvests. Pomerol wines really stand out, they are sublime.
In Sauternes, the year was fairly humid but the Indian Summer saved the crop : the 1950 wines are soft and simple with a good ageing potential.
In Bourgogne, there was an overproduction of red and white wines. Good wines were produced though a bit light and with a weaker ageing potential.
Vallée de la Loire and Vallée du Rhône produced a serious 1950 vintage.
Champagne, however, produced in massive amounts with a rather poor quality.
