Rare wine - Vintage 1957

The 1957 vintage was a contrasting year due to the unstable weather but remains a good quality vintage, especially in Bordeaux and Bourgogne.

Bordeaux produced a decent vintage despite the complicated weather conditions. A cold and rainy winter in february reduced harvest. The wine is strong and austere with a high acidity level and an excellent ageing potential.

In Bourgogne, the weather was quite cold and damp. Bourgogne wines are flavorful and acidic. This strong acidity promotes a gleaming tonicity and good ageing potential.

Champagne produced a mediocre 1957 vintage. Alsace, however, produced good wines which age quite nicely.

The 1957 vintage represents a good year for Vallée du Rhône, despite a small crop.

Purchasing a 1957 wine is an excellent idea to celebrate an important event such as a wedding anniversary. We have put together a list of the best 1957 bottles : Mouton Baron Philippe, Haut Bages Libéral, Lafite Rothschild and Grands Échézeaux.
