Classic region for yellow wines, also producing a wide range of quality red wines, roses, sweet and dry white wines as well as effervescent wines.

Chateau-Chalon

Appellation dedicated exclusively to yellow wine, located on a rocky outcrop overlooking the valley, spread over 50 ha. It produces about 1500 hl, which varies depending on the vintage because good wines are only produced from good years.

Main grape varieties : Savagnin.

Soils : Blue or grey marls from lias.

Style of wines :

These are wines with a unique taste, a complex and rich nose with aromas of walnut, apple, curry and mushrooms. In the mouth, both fat and dry with an extremely long finish.

Arbois

Most important of the Jura AOCs, providing alone 40% of the production. Well-known by wine lovers thanks to its excellent red wines, also producing white and yellow wines, straw wines and cremants. The appellation is spread over 13 communes around Arbois, but only Pupillin is allowed to add its name to the AOC.

Main grape varieties : Chardonnay and savagnin for white wines ; poulsard, trousseau and pinot noir for red wines and rosés.

Soils : Clay and limestone screes.

Style of wines :

Red wines : aromas of red fruits, animal notes and a beautiful persistance in the mouth for these quality red wines.

White wines : fruity and floral aromas, notes of spices, honey and walnut for these elegant chardonnay white wines. Notes of walnut and spices for savagnin white wines, with a beautiful opulence and a great lenght in the mouth.

Côtes-du-Jura

Very large appellation, including 105 communes such as Voiteur, Poligny, Gevingey and Arbois. The production is very diversified and includes white wines, dry or sweet, still or effervescent, red wines, rosés, yellow and straw wines.

Main grape varieties : Chardonnay and savagnin for white wines ; poulsard, trousseau and pinot noir for red wines.

White wines : depending in the terroirs, vinification techniques and blends, the wines are either fresh and floral (chardonnay), or « typical » (savagnin).

Red wines : aromas of black and red fruits for these excellent, tannic, round and generous wines.

Straw wines : fragrances of dried and exotic fruits.
