Grands vins - Vacqueyras

Located southwest of the « Dentelles de Montmirail », the Vacqueyras appellation is very close to the Gigondas AOC but their wine styles are very different, mainly because of Vacqueyras' warmer climate. White wines can be tasted very young but the red wines need at least 3 to 6 years to develop.

Main grape varieties : Grenache noir (at least 50 %), syrah and mourvèdre for red wines and rosés ; grenache blanc, clairette, bourboulenc, marsanne, roussane and viognier for white wines.

Soils : Red clay with sand and calcareous stones.

Style of wines :

Aromas of black fruits with smoky mineral and animal notes. Distinct finish on liquorice and pepper.
