Château Haut-Batailley

Château Haut-Batailley is a renowned domaine producing great Pauillac wines. The produced red wines, ranked as Fifth Growth in 1855, are composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Cabernet franc. The 22-ha vineyard, based on a gravel soil, is favorable to the production of high-quality wines. The estate owes it reputation to Danier Guestier, founder of Maison Barton & Guestier and owner from 1816, in part responsible for the castle's prestigious title of Fifth Growth. Historically, Fifth Growth Château Batailley and Château Haut-Batailley's vineyards formed a single entity owned by the same estate and divided in 1939 between Francis Borie and Marcel Borie.
